Mosaic Centre is a non-profit, charity resource centre located in Northeast Edmonton. We opened our doors in 2009 to serve the vulnerable population effected by poverty, hunger and homelessness.
We provide a warm, safe and welcoming community environment.
In this setting we build relationships and discover the needs, hopes and dreams of people who come seeking help. Through this discovery we use a client-centred, strength-based approach and encourage community members to set goals to achieve healthy lives. We connect them with available resources and advocate for them to gain needed supports, including accessing housing and housing retention. In addition we offer a warm cup of coffee, and a light snack, basic necessities and education-based programming to enrich and support individuals in their journey to wellness.
By building healthy community we inspire hope and transformation, a place for every person to realize their potential.
Where We Started
Mosaic Centre was born through the work of volunteers, from three area churches, responding to the needs of their neighbours in Northeast Edmonton. Relationships were built within the community through outreach efforts which included a sandwich van ministry, a warming centre, community dinners, food bank and clothing cupboards.
During a period of three years it became clear that there was a high prevalence of homeless, low-income and impoverished families, seniors and single individuals residing directly in the community and that the social issues connected to poverty were greatly under addressed in Northeast Edmonton.
Our focus shifted to finding a way that we could walk with the vulnerable and disadvantaged, advocating for them to gain access to resources that could transform their lives.
In November of 2009 we opened our doors and began serving our community at Mosaic Centre.
Where We Are Now
We see approximately 100 people a day, providing resources and supports for more than 800 unique individuals. Mosaic Centre has become a well-known and reliable pillar of support in Northeast Edmonton.
